Miles Sawvel: A Must read entry

Every Wednesday, there is a group of Veterans that meet for breakfast. This is not a club or formal organization. The group represents no one but themselves. They are World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afg.hanistan Veterans and if you asked them, they would say they are all "Brothers." Recently one of their "Brothers" was dealt the worst blow a parent could receive. Miles Sawvel II had breakfast with his "Brothers" on October 30th, not knowing that later that same day his world would be destroyed. That day two detectives presented themselves at his house to inform him that his son, Miles Sawvel III, 34 years old, had been needlessly gunned down in a home invasion I burglary in Palm Shores. When he came home for lunch, he had surprised burglars in his home. Mr. Sawvel II thought that the horrors he faced in Vietnam would be enough to last him two life times. Little did he know then that a bigger challenge would be how to deal with his son's homicide.

The police have arrested who they believe is the shooter, but the second home invader I burglar and the vehicle drlverremain at large. There is currently a reward of $5,000 provided by Crlmeline leading to the capture and conviction of the perpetrators. However, due to other recent crimes in Brevard County, detectives working the Sawvel case have been reassigned. In coordination with law enforcement and Crimeline, it has been suggested that a larger reward amount and the resulting media coverage may promote someone to step forward to identify those involved in the murder.

With that in mind, we are seeking your financial contributions to increase the reward amount. There is someone out there who knows who these other perpetrators are. With financial incentives, we are hoping someone will call with information regarding this case. If you can find it in your heart to help a Veteran "Brother" who is dealing with every parent's worst nightmare, please send your checks payable to the Vietnam and All Veterans of Brevard, annotated for the "Miles Sawvel Rew1lrd," at 1125 King Street, Cocoa, FL 32922-8505. IfyOli have any questions, regarding donations, please contact Jared Nenstiel via email atjnenstiel@aol.com

Any monies collected and not claimed after one year will be donated in Miles's name to the Marine Biology Department at Florida Institute of Technology (FIn. The ocean was one of Miles great loves in his short life. As his dad said, with a smile on his face, "I can see Miles looking down and smiling at the fish that got away." I urge you to put yourself in his position, and to be as generous as you can.

Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit Lt. Bruce Barnett, Agent Carlos Reyes by pager through the Sheriff's Office Communications (321) 633-7162 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS for the reward.

Back stories from my memories include "Flashback". A shinning light led me into crawling through the ditch and helping wounded men down in battle. The light was reflected off Lewis Albanese's glasses (posthumously) awarded the medal Of Honor winner).
I was too late to be of any help for Lewis, but there were moans coming from up the hill, I had lucked upon finding Charlie Love, wounded and needing help. I didn't find out the whole story until 20 years later when we met Charlie Love who by chance had came to see the replica of the wall in Woodville. "I still can't believe that day.", we sat and cried together as only two men who knew that day could.
